Internally, crime in Harare decreased by 18% however violent crimes continue to be reported in the evenings - In Harare West, churches and schools remained vulnerable with serious injuries and a fatality reported as robbers attacked private security guards and the police.
Overall, there is an 8% decrease in reported criminal incidents for our customers, but theft alone is up 10%. Nationwide, violent crimes continue to be reported at businesses and recently, churches.
Violent crime is a concern. Shots fired and exchanged in the prevention of break in and theft in the industrial areas Harare, a resident shot in Bulawayo, staff on site assaulted during a robbery in Pomona, and typically larger gangs involved in break in events.
