SAFEGUARD SECURITY SERVICES (PRIVATE) LIMITED STATEMENT OF CONFORMANCE
As a private security company, Safeguard Security Services (PRIVATE) Limited is fully committed to conducting all its security operations lawfully and ethically whilst taking accountability for its actions in accordance with international human rights and humanitarian law. As a responsible private security company operating in Zimbabwe, we recognize our duty to respect and protect the rights, dignity, and safety of all individuals and communities affected by our security operations.
This Statement of Conformance affirms that Safeguard Security Services (PRIVATE) Limited was drafted by top management including the Chief Executive Office, and diligently aligns its policies, procedures, and private security operations with the principles and standards outlined in:
- International Code of Conduct for Private Security Service Providers;
- Montreux Document on Pertinent International Legal Obligations and Good Practices for States related to Operations of Private Military and Security Companies during Armed Conflict;
- Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights; Implementing the United Nations “Protect, Respect and Remedy” Framework 2011;
- any other applicable internationally recognized human rights commitments (e.g. Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights).
Safeguard Security Services (PRIVATE) Limited is committed to dutifully:
- Respect Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
- Guarantee that all private security operations are executed with full respect of the rights of individuals and communities and avoid complicity in violations. This includes ensuring that personnel are aware of their rights, the rights of others and are trained and compliant with these rights including the prohibition of the following: child labor, torture and cruel treatment, human trafficking, slavery and forced labor, unlawful detention and apprehension, sexual abuse and gender-based violence, discrimination and harassment of individuals.
- Enforce responsible conduct by personnel by training, monitoring and disciplining personnel to work with the highest standards of professional conduct as they execute their duties.
- Educate personnel and utilize proportional use of force, applying force only when strictly necessary in a manner that is proportional to the threat and in the interest of the greater good above all else, as outlined in applicable national and international laws.
- Operate weapons strictly as stipulated and licensed by the law and manage the possession, storage, and use of firearms and other equipment responsibly, with clear internal controls and accountability mechanisms.
- Provide accessible, confidential, and transparent grievance procedures for affected individuals and stakeholders to report incidents or concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Cooperate with clients, regulators, and oversight bodies whilst maintaining clear records and documentation of our operations and any incidents or complaints. The organization also invites stakeholders to hold it accountable as it conducts its security operations.
- Regularly review and improve our policies and operations to remain compliant with ICoCA requirements and to learn from and implement corrective action from findings of risk assessments, audits, and stakeholder feedback.
Safeguard Security Services (PRIVATE) Limited subscribes to ICoCA membership, maintains a commitment to and invites external oversight, third-party audits, and continuous improvement as part of our governance and risk management systems.
