Whilst the number of reported incidents has fallen across the country, Crime in Harare remained constant. As reported last month, the real change is the targeted and more violent crime, with incidents of explosives used on safes during break-ins and robberies occurring in Harare (and Mashonaland East). Ruwa has been in the spotlight as criminals target those that hold cash on site.

Crime increased by 16.6% when compared to the previous month with a significant increase in theft incidents whilst robberies and burglaries remained constant. Though Harare remains the most active for crime incidents, crime in Midlands and Mashonaland East increased fourfold in the last month.

With three weeks of February reporting a serious armed robbery, it is evident that violent crime is currently a
cause for concern. In response, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has also started an operation to minimise
robberies, with a number of significant arrests reported in Harare and Bulawayo
